Betting odds ahead of the 96th Academy Awards have been revealed and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is expected to win big. The thriller biopic has received 13 nods in total while lead Cillian Murphy is expected to scoop the Best Actor award for his portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer.
The Irish actor currently has a 1/10 chance of receiving the Oscar on Sunday, 11 March, while Paul Giamatti is the second most likely recipient with odds of 5/1. According to Betway, Nolan is also likely to win the Best Director award with odds of 1/33.
Elsewhere, Lily Gladstone is leading the Best Actress category for her portrayal of Mollie Burkhart in Killers of the Flower Moon (8/15). However, she has powerhouses Emma Stone (11/10) and Sandra Huller (20/1) hot on her tail.
Over in the race for the Best Supporting Actress, Emily Blunt’s role in Oppenheimer has earned her a nod but it’s The Holdovers’ Da’Vine Joy Randolph who is leading the charge.
Experts say the Mary Lamb actor has a 1/20 chance of receiving the Oscar while the Kitty Oppenheimer star is tied with The Color Purple’s Danielle Brooks with 12/1 odds.
Elsewhere, it’s looking likely that Robert Downey Jr will win for his role as Lewis Strauss in Oppenheimer with 1/20 odds.
