China and Singapore will hold a series of meetings on bilateral cooperation when Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong visits China from Tuesday to Friday, said the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Monday.

Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, will co-chair the 19th meeting of the China-Singapore Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation in Tianjin on Thursday with Wong, who is also Singapore’s finance minister, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin announced.

Ding and Wong will also host the 24th meeting of China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park Joint Steering Council (JSC), the 15th meeting of the China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City JSC and the seventh meeting of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity JSC on Thursday, according to Wang.

China and Singapore announced in March the establishment of an all-round high-quality future-oriented partnership during Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s official visit to China.

The mechanism meetings on Thursday will be of special significance since they are the first after the March upgrading of China-Singapore relations, Wang said.

The two sides will seek greater strategic synergy and promote high-quality cooperation to translate the new positioning of China-Singapore relations into implementation, said the spokesperson.
