Volvo EX30 recalled | CarExpert

Volvo Car Australia has recalled 1255 examples of its EX30, as the small electric SUV’s infotainment screen may not display its driving speed.

Unlike most cars on sale, the Volvo EX30 doesn’t have a traditional instrument cluster, with its speedometer instead located at the top of the centrally-mounted infotainment screen.

“Due to a software error, the infotainment unit screen may enter a test mode during start-up of the vehicle,” the carmaker said in its recall notice.

“This may prevent key information such as the vehicle’s speed from being displayed.

“Failure to display key information may potentially increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

According to Volvo, the fault can be resolved via an Over-the-Air (OTA) software update, which you can download to the EX30 yourself.

However, if you’re unable to update the car remotely, you can contact your preferred authorised Volvo retailer for an appointment to update the EX30’s software at no cost.
